Locker question

Are there any advantages to run lower (higher numerically) gears with a locker? Reason for asking is that I'm currently running 3.73s with 36" tires (can't afford to re-gear it currently...) and found a truetrac I can get for pretty cheap. I'm trying to find out if there is any gearing/locker correlations.

Matching tire size to drivetrain is the main part of axle ratio choices. Are you talking about carrier breaks? The ratio has nothing to do with the locker internals, they just move the ring gear mounting surface closer to the centerline for the smaller pinion. If you get a posi/locker for your 3.73 you may have to buy a "thick" gearset later (if you go 4.10 or 4.56). Make sure somebody makes the "thick" gearset first.
