To a non military person, its very eye opening. Makes me realize what some have given to this country we live in. To all the guys on here that have served THANK YOU.....

Mainstream movies like that are very sensationalized.

I'm a non-military person as well....and the movie Restrepo was incredibly hard hitting to me. Check that one out. Should be on Netflix.

Very good movie, we saw it the first night. We rarely go to theatres but we were amazed at how quiet the place was throughout the movie......as it should have been.

I noticed the same thing. The last 5 mins was the most intense to me, it put the real people in the light they deserve...

Just saw Lone Survivor last night. I thought it was a great movie, saw it in Hickory in the 5D whatever theater. Well worth the extra to see it on a larger screen with awesome sound.

Snappy was telling me about this movie, Part of me would like to see it, but I know I shouldn't. Even If I go in and just try to point out everything that they did/ or may have screwed up being Hollywood, I would not sleep for days. Its been 10 damn years ago but I still cant watch that stuff. I bet their are a few others in the same boat. If it is true to reality then I am glad it is. I am by no means a coward but there are some emotions and memories that I just do not want bringing up if I dont have too and controlling them is VERY hard. I have friends that have been in this same boat and I bet there are some that read this that feel the same way and that is OK. Just wanted to say this and to get it out of my system, don't know why just do

@Jason W. Amen brother watched the trailer last night and slept like poo glad the bring some things to life for civys to see a glimpse but alot of brothers lost in those situations.

It was an excellent movie... I've watched it 4 times now.
That being said, they made quite a bit of changes from the book but still a very good flick.
Mistakes were made, lives were lost. Its a tragic story and it happens all too often and goes unnoticed.

I ended up going with my best friend. He's a Naval Academy grad, and he flew for them for the last 10 years (spent more than 50% of his time deployed), he got out in October. It hit him really hard, especially the memorials at the end. He didn't seem to think it was too far off from stuff he saw. It was pretty eye opening for me. Crazy thinking that's a part of my best friend's life that I'll never understand or see. Even if it is sensationalized, I'd rather the military get some sort of credit or coverage for our heros than it only being about Harry Potter or Zac Efron. IMO, Lone Survivor is the type of movie schools should be taking field trips to go see or show in school.

I saw it Saturday night. I was mad at the chain of events, bad decisions, unavailable help, etc., that made it all go wrong. I hated the way they showed them falling down both of the cliffs and the hits they took and expected me to believe that they could even walk after that...too much dramatization.
I already love and respect our troops so no lights went off in my brain. No I wouldn't recommend anyone who has lived this to go and see it nor would I want any parents of active service men and women to see it. I saw what looked like a father and son 30 and 55 sitting after the move and the son had his head in his hands sitting in his seat. Both looked like vets.
My son loved it, my wife cried at the end.
