Longshot- Anyone near Mint Hill eat deer?

I've hit and then skinned out a deer, did it with my dads dealer owned explorer. ( He was the service manager and it was a perk. I even threw it in the back.) Very young very dumb I was..

Anyway, back on track. The meat was so badly bruised and blood shot very small portions were any good. Also internal injuries from impact lead to ruptured organs tainting the meat. So your probably better letting the local critters have at it.

I've butchered and eaten at least 4 freshly hit deer and after removing the bruised meat, if they had any, they were just as good eating as any I've killed while hunting . Usually the damage is only on one side and all of the hams and most of the backstraps were good on the ones I butchered. Soak slightly bruised meat in salt water and cut away the badly bruised meat and you'll have some fine eatin!

sucks for good meat to go to waste, but the only road kill deer I've ever taken was one I seen hit. Knew the meat was good b/c it only took a head shot killing it instantly. I've heard of others keeping more damaged deer but IMO it's not worth the risk. Like said above.... feed the critters.

Gut shot, field dress all is well. Busted up, non bleed out meat, yuck. Even when I kill my chickens I bleed em.
