Hey guys...

One of my hobbies is building stuff out of old barn wood. Lately, I've been playing with tobacco stained barn wood from Eastern NC (Beaufort Co.) and it is mostly Poplar and Pine. I'm wanting to get some wood from the western part of the state, as I understand there's a lot of Chestnut barns out there. Anybody got an info on old barn wood from out that way? I'm sure its a long shot, but any insights are appreciated. Thanks!

I realize your wanting to get it from the source and not off somebody who's already been to the source and marked the price up but,
asheville for sale "barn wood" - craigslist

Its a pretty big thing around here, alot of folks are lookin for it now.Several years ago they removed a bunch of heart pine from an old tob warehouse in town that brought like $6/$7 a foot.

I have an old barn that fell on my property in surry county. About an hour north of Winston Salem. I've no idea what kind of wood. If interested I'll try to get pics.

Yeah...that's what I'm finding also. I don't mind paying for it, but $7/ bd ft seems high. Thanks...
That was 8/10 years ago before it became popular.
