i havent ever really been a big gun guy but i recently went a gun show in hickory and saw some awesome weapons. I was thinking about a taurus judge this one to be exact http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/62695-1.html
i think this one is really cool it will be for home protection but mostly just to collect has anyone ever owned one or shot one? what do you guys think of it and where do yall buy your guns. Just looking to be headed in the right direction

I like Taurus stuff, I have a 945 semiauto.

One thing I would say, is if you are using it for home protection I would like to have more than 5 rounds. I know you really only should need one shot, but I know I would want more than 5 rounds to be on the safe side. I keep 8 in the mag and one in the pipe in mine.

The Judge is a really cool gun. Id like to have one myself. They make some pretty cool self defence ammo for it too.

However my first choice for a handgun was the XD-45 wich I just got Friday. Cant go wrong with 13 rounds of .45 Auto. Got it at my local gun shop, you can usually get them for about 100 bucks less than msrp if the owner is a nice guy.

That weapon with a couple 45's and then some 410 w 6 shot would probably be a pretty good criminal stopper.
I had a Taurus 357, built off of Smith molds, and it was flawless.

The Judge is heavy, impractical, and difficult to handle, just like the Pontiac version. ;) All that said, it's FUN AS HELL to shoot! If you got confident with it, it could make a good bedside gun, but I think it's a little big and heavy to be a carry weapon. With the recoil, I wouldn't expect my wife to feel comfortable shooting it. I think she'd be too scared of it to be effective, and that's not a good thing. If you're a recoil junkie like me, though, and don't mind spending the money for expensive ammo, get it. It's a blast, pun intended!

BTW, shoot it at night and check out the fireball it throws!

Quite.the opposite...they have a carry model, public defender poly. Its a pinky hanger and it is polymer....and i bought it for my wife as a wedding present....she carries it and shoots the hell out of it...shoots .45long and .410.....she usually carries 2 pdx1 .410's, 1 00 .410, and 2 .45long......she is deadly with that thing. I carry a 1911 commander in .45 and have seriously thought about pickin up one of these judges myself. Did i mention that its my wifes:lol::.........ill post up a comparison for sizes here in a min

I think it would be a cool gun, but everything I have read says the .410 shell has limited penetration and stopping force for a personal defense round; now the .45 colt... Major stopping force. I would buy the Judge as a cool gun to have and shoot but wouldn't rely on it for personal defense.

Here ya go

I'd go with either a 357 or a 45 semi auto. To me the judge is just a cool to have gun. Or if you want something with a lil bigger bang get a 12 gauge pump action.

Let me just say...you're a lucky man! That's a helluva woman that'll carry that thing. You have to know that she's the exception to the rule. I know mine would maybe shoot it once.

I too have the long barrel Judge. It's a kick in the pants to shoot. The shot shells don't have the power of the .45, but fun as hell. I keep mine loaded with the first 3 rounds being 00 buck and the last 2 are .45. It should be enough to down a bad guy should one be unfortunate enough to pick my house to break into. If that still isn't enough, I have my Taurus PT-140 in a .40 ready to roll right beside it.
