Looking for a Laser Cutter/Fabrication Shop

I'm looking for a Laser Cutter/Fabricator who is willing to work with me on small quantity part runs and the occasional one-off prototype parts. The closer to Charlotte the better, but I am willing to travel or pay for shipping. At the very least I need to find a back-up supplier if things do not pan out with my current supplier. I am in the process of developing a line of products with a goal of ramping up to regular smaller volume orders. I need someone I can rely on for quality work and finish and who can deliver when they say, I don't care about how long it takes (to a point), so long as it is done when they say it will be. I am glad to pay a premium for this.

I'm getting the signals from a current supplier that my stuff isn't worth their time, or they're just not interested. Basically that's how I read taking 2+ weeks to quote parts, or just never returning quotes at all and upping my current prices 40%. I don't fault them, I certainly understand that doing a run of 1000+ of the same widgets over and over is probably a lot easier and more lucrative.

To those reading this who may know someone in the industry but are thinking "this guy must be a real pain in the ass, that's why he's getting the shoulder," I am probably the easiest guy in the world to deal with. I do not harass or call/email constantly about quotes. I only call and follow-up after not hearing anything back for 2+ weeks, my designs/dimensions are solid, I never haggle or challenge delivery times, and upon delivery I ALWAYS pay in CASH.

So if anyone knows of any shops they can recommend or put me in touch with, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have worked with these guys before in the past and never had a problem. We have since purchased our own High def plasma is the only reason we haven't used them in awhile. I'm sure there may be some closer to you, but either way www.virginialaser.net always did good work for us.

Fuller Welding and Fabrication in Mocksville has a couple lasers and waterjets, plus several press breaks. I know they do a lot of contract stuff, just don't know how small of a run. Family owned and operated.

Mechanical Specialities in Greensboro is also a good one. Its family owned and they have a laser and CNC press brake. They've done great work for me before and the owner is a stand-up guy. Tell him Andy Jones sent you.
