Friend died on 26 at exit 18. It ran hot earlier from a heater line popping off. Refilled and went south. Now it died and will not restart.

We got it started with starting fluid.

Moved to a Lowe’s while his dad comes get the trailer. Blowing white smoke. We think the head gasket blew.

Probably head gasket. Heater line blew because of excess pressure in the cooling system. White smoke is coolant in the cylinders.

^^^^^^
This.

His dad came for his trailer. Yes head gasket is what we think. When I left he thought he had a friend coming to get his truck. If not he was going back for the truck with his big trailer tonight.

He got it home late last night. Paid a friend to go get it. With a Chevy 1500 and 40' bumper pull. It's for sale needs a head gasket......

Gunna sell it just because it needs head gaskets?

He must not like the truck very much or already has another one. I'm just confused about giving it away for 8k. He could probably get 3X that after a few thousand dollar head gasket job.

He loves it. Has not time and was quoted about 4K for the work. $2500 labor alone.

Yep...4000 isn't bad if you're paying someone. It's quite a bit of labor. Plus sending the heads to a machine shop...and gaskets/seals/coolant/oil. Too bad I don't have 8 grand laying around :D

I wish...sounds like I'd have an LBZ to fix and resell :D

I done my 05 head gaskets and a bunch of upgrades for $5000.00 and done the labor myself. I could have done less than $2500,00 heads and gaskets no upgrades.

It's mine. I love the truck. I just don't have the time to fool with it and can't make myself pay for that much labor. Time for something new.

For the moment, at least until I'm done being mad at it, I'm firm at $8k. If it doesn't sell for that I'll either fix it when I'm tired of not having a truck or part it out for a guaranteed $8k.
