Got a neighbor that I also work with that has a Chevy S-10 with a blown head gasket. It's an overhead cam 2.2 in which I know better than to dive into at my shop due to inexperience with OHC's. He just bought a brand new head and had it replaced less than a year ago due to he overheated it and it warped for $2,200 total job. I suspect the dude that done it didn't do something right for the gasket to now go bad? Anyways, he took it to the same dude and he quoted him $1,000 to do the job.
I'm trying to look after my buddy and find either a better deal considering he's like me and only getting so many hours a week and having to cut back, or just someone different that knows what he's doing that he won't be in the same boat a year from now. And trying to find someone semi local even though I have a trailer. Durham area preferred. I'll PM Chase on this and see what he can come up with knowing he's just down the road but I'm definately open for all avenues.
Or if someone could guide me in a right direction with good tips on trying to do this just me and my buddy George? I have knowledge only on straight V8 motors and such and can make a lawn mower scream but never a OHC.
Watchall know?
Thanks!
Jeremy
