Looking for someone to tig stainless

I was being facetious....but you bet your ass that if I'm paying for sch10 stainless bends, then I'm welding them to a stainless flange.

I priced out doing everything in mild steel an it actually came out like $40 more after you got the t's and l's, header flange, turbo flange, and wastegate flange which is why I just ordered this. With 309 wire/filler there shouldn't be an issue welding stainless to mild correct?

The real problem is going to be the heat transfer and cooling cycle differences between the two. Dissimilar metals is a challenge regardless but given the application I would prefer them be the same alloy. Have your guy build a fixture and aneal the set up regardless. Unless you want a sprung pretzel when your done. Welding in equal quadrants would not hurt either. Of you hit that joint all at once it's going to stress and pull the set up pretty hard.

Kit came in today

I called every plumbing supply store I could find in Winston and everyone only carried threaded pieces, no weld els or t's in sch10 or sch 40 mild or ss that I could find

Returned pm, kit looks interesting. All those pieces are no where close to being fit and finish. That is going to require a good bit of fitting up. It would be a good challenge.

What plumbing supply places? Ferguson? Problem is most plumbing supply places cater to plumbing only (pex, pvc, fixtures). You need a pipe supply place.

Greensboro plumbing has an office in Winston. They are good to us but without an account you will probably pay through the nose anyway...

Firishkorn/Ferguson, Dillons, Murray Supply, American Stainless, etc should all have it readily available

American stainless would be my vote. Ask for Corey. If you need it again that's probably your best bet.

I've not had good luck with ferguson when it comes to pipe fittings but that depends on the area. Most of those places has turned into a fixture showroom.

I called Ferguson, Murray, Greensboro plumbing, and 1 or two more.

I appreciate all the input fellas. Got the log structure together today. Now I just have to figure out where I want to mount the turbo and wastegate.
