Looking to get a lift installed in Charlotte NC

Thanks. I have a 3.5 rough country suspension lift for me 2013 rubicon 2dr
I really don't have the needed tools or the space to do it, but would def appreciate
Any help and def buy GOOD Beer

If I was in your area I could help but I am three hours away. I'm sure someone will chime in here soon.

Thanks for all the responses

I'm in no rush TK, my wife is to get the boxes out of
The hallway but that the nature of the jeep build, so if you can assist I can wait
Of course I super eager to do it

Boone is pretty far away but I appreciate the offer

My driveway at home sucks for working on the rig it's down hill and skinny

I'm in Charlotte and I'm willing to help. I've used Tarheel 4wd in the past though. They are pricey but do good work.

I've only lifted my old XJ so I'm not the most mechanically inclined but it doesn't look too bad. Just need some spring compressors from auto zone.

Do you have space to do the work ? I think I would need a puller for the pitman arm too
I've never done could only have lift CJs in the past
I'm trying to get this guy to let me use his lift to make it super easy but I would appreciate the help. I think on a lift you don't need to compress the springs either

Does anyone know if that's true ?

Yeah I have a garage, but I don't have a jack. You can rent the puller at auto zone as well.

Not sure about the lift. If you have a jack and Jack stands you can just flex the axel to get the spring in and out. Spring compressors help a lot.

When you get done you will beg someone to do it for $400.

Sorry, I am going to be that guy. You drive a '13 Rubicon and you cant afford to pay someone to install the lift you dont have the tools to do yourself?
Let me guess, that install price = a car payment doesn't it?

'Murica Fuck Yeah

What's the problem in asking for help? There's tons of people who love working on Jeeps that would be glad to help.

Yeah it's probably better to pay to make sure it's done right, but it's not that hard to install the parts.

Just because you got to be that guy doesn't mean you have to be an ass.

I'm in Cornelius NC and have a 2 post in my garage, I would be happy to help you out. I have lifted and worked on a bunch of JKs

Hey everyone, I appreciate all the replies... and offers to help, but a friend of the family with a lift in his garage offered to let me do it in his space. I get the use of his lift and tools. I am really looking forward to getting to know the underside of my JK, they way I have on my past projects (78 CJ7 FT V8, 83 CJ7 renegade, 83 CJ7 Laredo, 83 CJ7 Limited, 83 CJ8 Scrambler, 85 CJ7 Laredo, and my last 2 GCL's). I would love to have some help, but since its a friends space he is not that welcoming of others coming over. I am overwhelmed by all the offers and I will be sure to lend my lessons learned, and offer my help when they next guy reaches out to the group.. I am new to the Charlotte area, been here for a year from Long island, if any of you have some advice on where to wheel please send it over, I'm use to the beaches of Long Island the woods of PA and would to find some place local-ish to wheel.

BTW ....... who is the jerkoff who is evaluating my situation? I love working on my jeep and since I don't have the room to do it at my own home it seems silly to pay someone else a bunch of money to do something that me and a ton of other people would enjoy doing it just a well. ( as you can see from the post responses ) I don't see the benefit of comments like this, your a moderator of the site ? I think you should set an example and keep your uninformed bully BS to yourself.

If you must know I got a great deal on the 13 Rubi as a leftover, and traded in my 2004 GCL with only 50,00 miles on it (Which I also purchased as a leftover) which was also lifted at home with the help of friends and like minded enthusiast. Sorry if my "flagged financial status" put a stick up your arse. I wasn't ooking for a free bowl of soup, I wanted to have fun and meet some cool people.

Thanks again, Ill be sure to post some pics before during and after....................................

Glad you got it worked out.
I'll go a step further and explain my previous post.

Installing that lift isn't the same as lifting a 4 leaf sprung CJ. Or even a Leaf rear/ Coil front XJ. For a properly outfitted shop that has the tools and has done that specific install you are talking 4-6 hours of labor, plus consumables, electricity, space etc,etc etc. Reading your initial post it seems like you are complaining about the "outrageous" price of $400-500. Ive lifted that Jeep in a driveway but with air tools and 3 guys. When we were done, Id have paid $500 not to have done it. And it wasnt my Jeep.

This is a fairly small community and many here know me at least on here, and Ive made my stance on car payments long established on this board. In short I dont believe in them. To modify a vehicle you do not own (and if you have a payment the bank owns it not you) I think is a further bad decision. Modifying the suspension of the vehicle will increase the ownership costs and possibly put you in a tight pickle regarding a warranty. If you have to make a payment on a vehicle that cant be driven, that can lead to downward spiral that I have seen cause undue hardship on numerous members of this very site.

You are right, however, I don't know you or your particular situation and for that reason probably should not have said what I said, or at least, not the way I said it. But when I read your initial two posts (and I just went back and re-read them again to re-affirm my initial response) I read, "I just bought a new Rubi and want to lift it. I dont have the tools or location to do it and I value my money too much to pay a reputable shop to install it. Who will donate their time (since it has no value to me) and their tools and install this for me." The vehicle combined with the posts gave me an image of you that may not have been acccurate. And if I am wrong about that image, again I apologize.

Nothing personal on my end, I'd gladly stop and help ya if I saw you broke down on a trail somwhere. Or have a beer with you for that matter. I wouldnt donate my free time to that aggravation for your sake though.

I appreciate the follow up Ron. I am well aware of the pitfalls and look forward to the challenge. I didn't feel the need to go into details and could have better described my ask.

Quick Run Down anyway:
No place to work on my Jeep = I have a crappy driveway that is on a insane hill and no garage, dont needed those nuts and bolt rolling away on me, and if it rains I would be totally screwed.
No Tools = Sold just about everything owned to make a easier move from up north, I am slowly building me collection up, but as you mentioned the JK is nothing like working on an old CJ.
Need Help = My buddies back home and my long time jeep doctor are way to far away for a weekend knuckle buster, but would have circle around in heartbeat like we have done many times before ( good and bad ones at that) I am slowly building my network up her int he south, but always looking for a good group to pitch in on projects.

No hard feelings, back in the day I would have barked at wrangler owner just for parking next to me, and now I'm going to just empty every pocket into one..

Cheers.....
