My wife lost her key fob to her 08 prius it is the only one we have. We bought the car a few months ago and only got one key well she lost it. Anyone know if there is a way to program one myself or if I'm in for a tow and a steelership raping.

So let me get this straight you just admitted to buying a prius on a redneck infested 4x4 forum?
And you know we still remember the whole boob thing :D
But to answer your question yes you are about to be raped by the dealer.

Any licensed locksmith can get you a key and program it.Although the Prius is bluetooth so not 100% sure.

Damn! A Prius? I'm sorry dude, you would be more manly in a minivan or a bug LOL!

if i'm not mistaken all the prius keys are proximity keys(smart keys),and not actually keys with "pats" transponders. i have seen where the immobilizers needed to be replaced because there is no way to start the reprogramming process without being activated by the master key.

Yeah I know its a prius but its her car I dd my f250. Its at the dealer now I think they said 375 to program and replace one key. I'm going to get another one on ebay once I have the numbers off the new one and I found where I can program it myself.

Not all are "smart entry". They all are immobilizer and require special software. I don't think they can be programmed at home. Also, you have to have all the fobs in one place while programming. If you have one at home while a new one is flashed to the car, the old one will not work. They can only be programmed once. If you buy a used fob, it will never work with another car. You can buy the Toyota TIS OBD cable and software from a Chinese website and do everything that we can do. I have it and it's flawless.Toyota sells this same thing for over $1k.
