A friend of mine lost the one and only key to his jeep. Any ideas?

Go to dealership with vin# and have a new one made? I think you can call a moble locksmith and they can make one from vehicle on site..

hope that helps.

if dealer key .

take 2-3 forms of i.d. and pic i.d. best for atleast 1.

then title with your name on it.

lots of dealers wont just give them out. to many car thefs writing down vins and getting key and hop in and drive off.

this is the way it works in nc now. we have had customers bring their cars in with a lost key and we have to send them to the dealer because we can't just "get keys" anymore.

replace the ignition cylinder. Dont know much about jeeps but thats what i had to do to my brothers chevy. It was $12 for a new ignition and $100 for a locksmith

That's what I did for a buddy of mine that lost the only key he had to his H D, wasn't much and I hid a spare key on his bike for him but wouldn't tell him where I hid it. Just said call me.

X2 what sweetk30 said about the photo id. I also require the registration card. Whats really bad is when its in a spouses or parents name, unfortunately they dont get a key.

key

all you need is ID and vin. if car is in your name. have done this many times. dealer will run the vin to see who name it is in.
unless it is coded key will not cost more than 30 dollars. I payed 20 at ben mynatt and 25 at saturn.

i broke the key to my toyota one time and i called the a lock smith, he told me to look for this ID# on the dash, seem like it was kinda under the ignition out of sight (been a while) i told him the #, took my title and ID and he made me a new one off the number, craziest thing.

Oh you mean the 95 Jeep my Daughter paid for ? The one in my drive right now broke down not running windows open for the last 2 months of rain and soaked inside ? And loaded up inside and out with a ton of junk tires you dumped off in my yard?
Sorry, but NC4x4 is not the place to start this.

Ok how about we meet at you place? You still living with your Grand parents place? I will do you a favor I'll haul all of the tires over there for you and you can unload them as you know I have a bad back. Theres what about 30 of them between my place and my inlaws where you dumped them?
I'll have Kat put the jeep in her name and fix it up for her and the baby that way she has a car for them to use.
