Its the "low side" of the oil pan that hits the stock cross member. If you move it front/back to clear the cross member you get into the differential.
There are some guys who notch the cross member...or you can raise the motor 3" and run a cowl hood.
But to date, without lift springs, a custom fabbed cross member or a cowl hood I havent seen anyone get it in a 4wd truck and no one has on the 67-72 forums.
Its why 4 companies make the custom cross member. And its cheap enough to not reinvent the wheel.
