LS1 header flange used as exhaust manifold spacer?...

So I have a pair of corvette exhaust manifolds off an LS2. One will work great flipped up side down but I need a little more space for 2 plug wires. I was thinking about getting a header flange for a 'doityourself' header kit and using it as a spacer.

See any negatives to this other than 2 gaskets to worry about?

Or...I guess I could turn the coils over and run longer wires to the plugs...thought's on this?

get a thicker flange cut and weld it to your existing headers...

assuming that you remove the flange already on your headers.

Just have stock cast manifolds right now...If I did get the flanges I would use them later on to build headers off of...just don't have the time or money at the moment to build headers that'll look halfway decent...

Try it. If it doesn't work, you haven't really lost anything except the $$$ for the flange, but you said you were planning on working on a new set of headers in the future anyway. So, you really haven't "lost" any $$$ if it doesn't work...

Gm used to make a quad thick manifold flange.
It was used on one obscure application and cost like $30 per side...

I have no idea the part number of where to get reference though...
