Standalone harness plugs right in. ONe of those 4 wires in the plug is the exciter if i recall correctly.

What is the stud for on the alt? 12v battery wire? Not sure, as only used to the older alts on carbed engines

Also attached a picture of the starter solenoid. Lemme know if this is correct.

On one of the big posts, its a preterminated wire to the starter. ON the other big post is:

-12v hot batt wire
-12v hot alt wire (to the alt stud?)
-12v batt wire for the standalone harness
-ign switch charge wire

On the small post is the ign start "switched ign" wire

Is this all correct?

Thanks for the help!

Are you using the stock gm positive box? Red box with one large thru wire with a smaller gauge jumper? The jumper wire goes to the alt and your done. The only thing from the harness to the alt will be a plug that goes into the back.

No don't have that stock box. I have the Jeep body harness completely rewired with a EZ-Wire kit. That new harness gives me a proper gauge 12v to run to the alt. So I won't have to run from the batt/solenoid to the alt. The same chassis harness gives me the wire to plug into the batt side of the solenoid. So if that alt post is as you said it should be fairly simple and clean to route!

Double checked on my Yukon since I was closer to it than the Jeep. I wouldn't use any less than a 6g wire and in the shortest routing possible to somewhere inline on a main power wire or battery. This was GM reasoning behind the positive box mounted next to the alternator.
