I used to run my '05 6.0 to a 80'sish 700R4 and needed the 0.400" spacer between the crank and the flex plate. It is my understanding that I DO NOT need to run this spacer to adapt the 1996 NV4500 flywheel to the same motor. Correct? (all other components sourced to be correct for the 96 trans)

or no?

No, you don't need a spacer. Just an NFW-1050 flywheel for a short crank motor. They're like 55 bucks.
