Ok im at los here LT1 which gets 300hp or an old school 350 with about 430hp ?
LT 1 is 5hrs away for $500 the 350 is $600 and about 10mins away? Which one will i be happiest with in the long run? Let me know PLEASE! im a yota guy and dont kmow anything about Chevy motors. Thanks

if you are going to rebuild it the regular 350 is half the price to rebuild.
the lt1 will need a computer

your numbers are off, 430hp from a 350 is a stretch, you are looking at 175-200hp unless it's built. there is no way you are buying a 350 with 430hp unless someone has put a lot of $$$ in it.

it all depends on your weight, gearing and application your wanting to use it for-a lt1 will idle good, have excellent low end and midrange, is fuel injected so it will almost run upside down, the 350,if it is 430 hp will probably idle rough, and have better midrange and be biased towards top-end power, a carb will only handle so much angle before the float bowl level goes out of whack-for an all purpose rig or rockcrawler, the lt1 will be more controllable and usable, a 430 hp 350 would be good in a drag car or mud bogger

If it were me since the 350 has that much HP id go that route and propane it kits are cheap then ya wont have to worry about angles and not to mention itll last forever!!! Just my .02

I have a build theard on here

I want to run an automatic so my wife can drive it. She likes to go wheeling but it gets a lil overwhelming at times.
im wanting something to have fun with either in the rocks or an old logging with out haveing to yell to talk. Over all its the biggest bang for the buck. And like i said about the OG 350 im going off what i was told. I dont know im not a motor head. I have never wheeled any thing but stock motors and to large of tires on a Toyota & Commando. Thanks for the input

Stay away from the lt1 I have owned a 95z28 for years the optispark is sensitive to water and prone to failure even in a street car also a good Opti replacement is $500 and a pita to change lt1's are known for cooling issues I personally would go old sbc then throttle body inject it propane is great for a trail only rig but I like the availability of petrol that's my 2 pennies

Spend 800 and get a 5.3

My dad has a lt1 in his vette and he switched to a ignition with four valve cover mounted coils. I want to say he paid like 600 on ebay with new wires and all. Made a huge difference in the way that car runs.
