Thinking about buying a m101 duece trailer, removing axle and tires replacing them with 3500lbs axle with 15 wheels and tires then replacing pintle with normal ball hitch. Has any one done this before?

Those trailer axles are built to haul some weight....i would get one and just leave it alone if it were me. But to each his own

M101 was pulled behind the 3/4 and 5/4 trucks -- M37, M715, m880, CUCV.

M105 was the deuce trailer. WAY too heavy for a normal pickup to tow.

I put an 8 lug Dexter 3500 electric axle under my M101A3. Shortened it to fit. I run 16x8's.

Also put in an adjustable coupler but stayed with a pintle. All my other trailers are pintle and they are much easier to hook up solo.

You can see the hitch & axle here:

Im looking to make it a little lower so i can haul my polaris rzr, possibly putting the axle above the springs to lower it so it would be easier to load? thanks for the pics and info.

I had a m105 and they are heavy with a small bed 6x9. It was cheap at GL but was too heavy and disappeared behind by M35 so backing was tough.
