Yep, that's how I've got "wireless" internet. The router/modem plugs into the phone jack on the wall and I'm wireless off of that.

I know quiet a few folks who still have wall phones. Out in this area we have a lot of places that don't have cell or even internet services. Of course, no internet service, no need for a majic jack.
My brother has a majic jack he has used for years. He bought me one and it had a constant echo on my end so I quit trying to use it.

Dumped our house phones at least seven years ago! So did my 84 year old father.

No real comment, although your title with the caps made me laugh. I am a designer and I work with caps lock on 90% of the time, I send emails that look like that all the time.

Now I don't feel so bad, I've had to retype more than one e-mail because of that:shaking:. I told a guy the other day, "I wish they had a button to convert CAPS like we can convert standard to metric!"

We have been using our for years and like it
hell $20 a year or $50 a lifetime cant beat it

Can you give me some ins and outs about it? Pros/Cons? TIA

How well it works will depend completely on your internet connection. I see a lot of people who clearly have internet problems talking smack about how bad these Magic Jacks are, not understanding that if they had a better connection it would work just fine. Also, understand that unless you have a really big pipe both up and down that doing stuff on the internet while you're on the phone can really have an effect on your audio quality. If your router can configure QoS you may be able to get around that to a degree, but most folks have no idea how to set that up.

for those of you that dont have cell service, but have internet service, most providers have a box that converts your phone signal to a digital signal and you call out over the internet to a tower.

sounds complicated but its not. and works great. we use it here at our shop. Metal building blocks the cell signal so we use that device to get signal in and out of the building.

I used the magic jack for 3 years in college. It worked just fine for me. Internet speed/connectivity is key though, but if you're covered there, I'd recommend it to anyone. I never noticed any conversation delays and had minimal issues while still browsing the internet.

Yeah...I've never had a cell phone, and don't plan on it.
