Making a Little Extra Money?

If you want extra money, you are going to have to "work" for it. Honestly dude, in this economy, you are lucky to have 1 job and as far as I know there is no way to get decent money for doing practically nothing. Deliver pizzas or something. That's pretty easy work. I would say get a paper route but you really have to get up early for that. I know when I was young, my second job was doing septic tank repairs and installs. Also general land clearing and excavation. If you want more money, you are going to have to work for it.

We have this awesome thing at my house that dispenses water for free. I just go up and turn this little lever and I get water. Pretty cool. Saves me a ton of money on drinks.

We have one of those, too... tasty and refreshing!

I love sweet tea!
Problem is, thanks to the dentist and keeping a reasonable diet, I can't use that as my "primary drink" throughout the day. Too much sugar!
And I can't bring myself to drink it un-sweet. Just not the same.

I honestly doubt the sugar-free/diet drinks are any less unhealthy, but that's a different topic... At least with tea you can wean yourself from at least some of the sugar when you make it yourself.

You fancy city folk what with'n yer runnin water and what have you. Bet you have one of them indoor crappers too. lawseee.

If ya don't have indoor plumbing... you definitely can't afford to drink nothing but soft drinks.

I remember water out of the well in a bucket... It sat on the kitchen counter with a dipper and everybody drank out of the same dipper. My grandparents didn't have indoor plumbing until like 1966 and still did plenty of things 'low tech' when I was a kid.

Every secret shopper ad I have come across was a scam. A friend of mine did one and he was sent a cashiers check for $2000 was told to cash it and go to Wal-Mart and get a money order for $1800 and write a review on the process. The extra $200 was his to keep.

The end of the month he got a statement from his bank that he was $2000 over drawn because the cashiers check was a fake.

What NO beer? Heresy I say.
I'm sorry to say it, but your friend should have seen the red flags when he got a $2000 check for a secret shop. Most of the ones my wife did told you specific items to buy and specific employees to interact with, like the butcher at the grocery store, and then when she would send in her review and the receipt, she got reimbursed, or got reimbursed plus a couple dollars. We've done secret shops at restaurants too where we simply got reimbursed after sending in the review and the receipt.

Are you crafty or artistically talented?
I build and sell Cigar Box Guitars ( outhouseinstruments.weebly.com ) and my favorite place to go is street festivals.
It's not gonna be constant but it can be good. I've sold 15 guitars since Oct. 1st at 3 festivals.

Some of the stupidest thing sell like crazy. Like hair clips with flowers hot glued to them for little girls ....... unreal how many they sold.

Its not that I "need" the money, I just want some extra spending money. I want to be able to go buy something that I want and not feel guilty taking it from something else that could go to groceries, gas, bills, etc.

We have a budget in place and so far we are doing really good, but I know as soon as we go and start spending money on stuff, something is gonna blow up in our face.

There is a company called Fish window cleaning...and I think that would be fun to do for a couple hours for a few nights a week if they work nights...or cleaning offices, but I think most companies hire other companies that specialize in cleaning offices for that stuff now. I know I did that with my dad when I was younger and I thought it was the coolest thing...I mean, your by yourself and you just clean...

not sure if its still out there...but Linda used to work on liveops.com

Basically it is telemarketing from your home.

You have to spend $40 up front on a background check. Then you log in and take phone calls. Everything from 19.99 as seen on TV whatever. A screen on your computer tells you what to say and you just read it.

You have a schedule and the better you keep your schedule the more points you get, working overtime off schedule also gets you points. (You set your schedule so it can literally be Monay 5:20pm - 5:38pm)
When you log in there is an interface where you can see where you rank as far as points and your likely hood to get a call. Etc. Yo only get paid for the calls you take but you do get commissions or bonuses for different things. Linda at one point was averaging like $17/hour..but it took a while to get there. The challenge is if you get tired of it you dont log in for a week or so your points star to decline and you basically start over building them up. The first month she probbaly made $10/hr average...but the thing is while you are logged in you can have a wireless phone and walk around your house doing stuff, when it rings you just answer and say, "hello my name is john doe I will be glad to ake excellent car eof you today, how are you doing" as you walk to your computer. So you can "work" an hour and maybe only spend 20 minutes not doing stuff you like. You an even have a friend or spouse fill in for you, though if they test call you and it doesnt match your voice print you are sol.

Track down Patches O'Houlihan and beat Globo Gym in a dodgeball tournament.
i kno this is suppose to be a serious thread.. but this... is HILARIOUS!!!!

you could always start selling drugs, i saw a story about people going to florida and getting a pain doctor to prescride them oxys for 9 dollars a peice. then they turn around and go up north and sell them for 80 a piece. just fuckin with ya, but that is a hell of a return.

good luck finding easy money

I had a room mate last year who was totally useless besides having giant tits and the ability to make crafts.

She made some account on Etsy.com and sold them for almost double what she paid to make em. Granted, she didnt sell them often, but she still had some money randomly coming in.

My OL started making teacher classroom supply kind of things. Her biggest seller are decorative hall passes. Cost is about .15/ea to make...retail $3/ea. She also makes door wreaths, about $5 in supplies...retail $25-30. She sets hers up at a friend's boutique in Salisbury...at a 10% fee of sticker price.

My little brother is a big time fisherman...he started making his own lures. He sets his stuff up in Lead Chunkers in Rockwell. They take 25%, but they also sponsor his fishing team and give him a 25-50% discount on everything in the store.

I think I am just going to keep my eyes open for something. I am good at what I do at work, but honestly I really can't go up money wise unless I wait it out a few more years and try to move up....I can't get over time and I think I might start buying stuff and reselling it at a profit. or think of something I can make and sell....

I read this thread all the way through and I'm right there with you. The wifey stays at home with the little one so there's no income generated there. Not that I'm complaining. What she does is best for our kid, it just makes it tougher. I've learned that working on the Jeep and buying parts is something that I'll have to get to one day unless I can generate some more income.

I've had a few hair-brained ideas but nothing I've put into motion yet. What I've come to realize is that working another job can get you what you want but your job performance will suffer at your first. You need something you can do on the side in your "spare" time. I've also thought about going the spare parts route but junkyards around here are savy to 4x4s. Mainly because they know most everyone needs one and they charge accordingly.

Try and find a hobby that you enjoy and try and turn a profit there. For instance I own bees. I got 10 quarts of honey from 1 of my supers. At $12/qt that's an extra $120 from one super on one hive. Most keepers have much more than 1 hive and can have multiple supers per hive. If I ever manage them properly I could have a lucrative side business.
