making a trailer

I run a medium sized mowing and landscaping service while I am in school. Helps pay for school and such. I have had it for several years and have always used a small utility trailer. the trailer is about 44in wide and 9 feet deep with about 3ft plywood sides. Usually it is just big enough for my 36in walkbehind blower and weedeater. There are 2 major problems I am running into with this trailer

1. It has no suspension just has a makeshift axle welded straight to the frame. Which is fine for hauling leaves or brush but the mowers tend to jump around more than they should. is also a pain to tow sometimes.

2. I have a new mower that is 48in cut and it won't fit.

As far as getting a new trailer I need one a little bigger and idealy with a suspension haha. I can weld is it something I should make or look to buy one that is already together. What am I looking at price wise if I make one?

Are there any plans people have for trailers that they like.

check the misc. for sale section.

if you can weld, go for it. build it to your specs and not have to worry about finding the perfect trailer.

getting one titled is no big deal.

X2 Build it yourself. Use you old trailer and modify it. Lots of options out there. If you have the know how, use it and save yourself some money.

I used to be able to build the 6x12 trailers with standard 16" sides, lift gate, lights, suspension, fenders, etc. for less than $500

However, there were some good deals in the for sale section that had what you were looking for and just need a little TLC to be good

on a single axle trailer, I wouldn't worry about brakes unless you have extra $$$ and a non-capable tow rig

Plans? Just stop by somewhere that sells trailers and copy them. They are super easy. If thats no good, you can buy trailer plans online

With some of the deals on here and craigslist i don't thinks its worth your time of building one. That being said, I would save up a little and get an enclosed trailer, that way you don't have to worry about your shit walking off.
