Note: I am not a carpenter. I begin with an out of square shipping crate. Part of it square, part of it twisted. Done the best I could, with what I had.
I have had this shipping crate probably 20 or so years. Couldn't use it for storage without doing something to it. Very thin walls, floor, and top. all built with a 4' on center. Too much weight anywhere, and you's punch through. Have a friend needing a place to store his stuff. Where it's at not, a gand kid pilfers through his stuff, stuff gets gone, just a bad situation. Both of his vehicles are crammed full. So I offered to make this his building. What little we had to buy, he bought, a lot of this was donated by several friends. Won't name them, but, would not have been able to get to this point without them.
First order of business was to make the floor stronger. I did this by tying pallets together.
We bought 2 full sheets of OSB, and an employee at Lowes found us a partial piece and marked it $3, to fill in the 10" in the middle. All screwed down, and ridged.
We put 4X4's on each corner. No, the one on the right side is not plum, I know this. Had to do it this way to tie 4X4's into crate. dug 1 1/2' hole and poured them full of concrete.
roof all framed up, and ready for donated metal roofing
Front framing done. 2X4's bolted to crate, siding started as well as building the doors
Front siding all on, doors hung.
Have build shelves down one side of the building, sorry no pics of that yet. Gonna build shelves across the back too. And, still have the ramp to build. He will be putting his fourwheeler in here. Tight fit with the ATV and shelves, but, measurements say he can park it in there, get off and fenagle his way out of the building.
