Making Extra Cash without getting a 2nd Job?

Spring/summer - Pressure wash houses. Base your rate on linear footage.

Fall/Winter - gather leaves, snow removal in driveways, sidewalks, etc. Base your rate on area sq footage roughly

Just an idea

You get paid pretty good for donating plasma but you can only do it monthly. Plus you get extremely drunk on 3-4 beers afterwards.

Have you considered looking at other jobs available to you in your area in the same career? You could be losing out on some money doing the same job somewhere else, just because they started you at a lower rate cause you were straight out of college.

I've thought about it. To be honest, If I leave this place I wont to do something completely different. Being in the Retail side of banking is burning me out.
The perks that I have are really awesome. 23 days paid vacation plus 11 paid federal holidays, profit sharing, 401k.

but I got in contact with a guy that I know and he said he may have something for me to do on the side....so we will see

I understand wanting out of the career you are in, but in the meantime if you could do the same thing across town for 25% more...why not?

Another question, have you asked for a raise?
I am a big fn of directly asking for more money. If they say no, you lose nothing. If they give you a dime an hour its more money for the same work.

I mow grass. I needed a lawnmower of my own, so I bought a 52" Ferris ZTR. Naturally, I needed to use it. I mow my grandma's, mine, my parents, my sister's, and the yard at a buddy's shop. That's usually good for an extra 300 or more a month. My yard and my parent's don't pay, but the rest do. I really need more yards though.

On the subject of raises...I recently found out that a QA guy where I work that was just hired is making 25 cents an hour more than I am. I've worked at this place for 5 years and I work my ass off, sweat, get dirty as hell, and have a shit load of responsibilities. He walks around with a clipboard all day. I'm the first step in our production process and every deadline on our schedule depends on me getting my work orders out on time. I'm sure yall can understand my frustrations. Not to mention I took a $1.53 an hour pay cut about a year and a half ago when they shut down night shift and stuck me back on days.

With all that said, I've thought about a second job too. However, I just want some cash in my pocket....not another W2.

Mine is super nasty..... I will pay accordingly. Pm inbound

This is exactly how I feel. I just want cash.

Looks like this car washing thing is starting to catch on... a lot of interest going on. I know this wont help me during the colder months, but at least its something.

Come to Greenville and I have 2 vehicles and a boat to wash. I currently pay $200 for the vehicles to be fully washed and detailed by a mobile detailer. The boat is more like $750.

Wash and detail can be pretty good $ if you know what you are doing.

For basic wash, Sheetz laser wash is what I use but tend to splurge every other month or so for a decent wash, wax, buff, and detail. :)

man, I wish you were closer! about 3 hours one way for me.

I am no professional by any means, but I do pay attention to detail and def want the customer to be happy.

These mobile detailers, what are they doing as far as detailing the interior?

What is this car washing you are talking about?

Since you don't mind washing things, have you put any thought into purchasing/renting/borrowing a pressure washer?

Thought about it. My dad has a smaller electric pressure washer and my Grandmother owns a nice gas one, but I'd like to start with this first and maybe branch out at a later time.

They detail everything. Vacuum the carpets, shampoo, spot treat stains, leather seat cleaning and treatment, spot clean headliner for stains and light steam clean headliner (have to be careful not to break down the adhesive), wash and wipe down the dash and any other plastic components and shine them up.

Really, the car looks as good or better than what you would see at a higher end car lot. It's real clean and free of any dirt and heavy soiling. Other than the normal wear and tear of the used vehicle, it's as clean as a new car. They even clean and detail the under side and engine bay.

wow! that's more than I have the ability to do! that's actually not a bad price for that either.

The guy spends a majority of the day at the house working in the car. Gets there at 8am and is wrapping up and done by around 5pm.

He even brings his own EZ up tent to keep the vehicle in the shade to help control surface temperature of everything.
