Making rear TJ seat safe for kids?

I know many of you have kids, and many wheel with TJs. With that, is there anything that you have done to the rear of the TJ to make it safer for kids? I already have family style roll cage, so I am wondering more how the stock seat attaches to the tub; it just seems weak. So what have you done?

I don't know, I just roll with it with my kids. Really the seatbelt is what is really holding them in, it's probably not any weaker than the front seat, it just looks different.

To me it seems fine. And yes, I like my kids so I'm not biased.

I'm planning on buying a TJ once I get my shed built and have room in my garage. I would like to get a rear seat with head rests like this:

After my rollover, I had @MarsFab build a roll cage that he would be comfortable putting his kid in. I didn't feel the need to change the seat mounting. All rollovers are different though.
I would like a rear seat with headrests though.

Those headrests don't look high enough to make much of a difference.

Car seats are the trick if they're small enough to still use them. The belts hold the seat to the Jeep. If they're too big for car seats, it's time for a high-back seat with a harness, like a PRP.

We also use window nets sometimes, but that's more about keeping things out (tree limbs, etc) than keeping the kids in.

The are not that great, but probably better than nothing. The one review says it is only good for up to 5'3" tall.

My kids are still in car seats, so that is true. As far as nets, that is a good idea, @shawn where did you get yours?

That's the seat I got once my daughter was too big for a car seat.
I've still thought about trying to switch to a 3 seater type setup with a full size seat for her in the back.
The head rests aren't real high, but I've thought about getting a taller one to replace it, move it up a little once she gets taller. It is quite a bit better than the stock seat though, and good enough for now.

I have that rear seat. Have had it in my Cj5 and my YJ. My son is 9, and the head rest is almost not tall enough already. But I would agree, it's probably better than nothing.

Figured I'd bump this up rather than making a new thread.

Tomorrow will be Jameson's first time off-road in the TJ. He's 8 months and 21ish pounds. My thoughts are it will be way easier to keep him entertained as well as getting him in and out if he's front facing rather than rear. Thoughts/opinions?

I think your will be fine for the trail. Especially driving slow. The only problem with it is hitting something hard with the front and snapping his head forward. That would be cautious about driving the dirt roads. Drive to the trail with it correct and then change it around.
