i just spent 2hrs draining / flushing / my fuel tank and removing the carb and flushing / scraping / cleaning & reassembling .

all this on my lawn mower .

in the last 2 years of so i have had nothing but problems with my lawn mower and gas. yes diffrent stations to try diffrent fuels.

the 10-15% federal mandate of ethanal fuel mix for all fuels sucks big time.

this stuff sucks up water 10-20x faster than reg old gas. i had so much crap in the tank it wouldnt run. so i drained it and refilled. then still wouldnt run so i pulled the carb out and removed the bowl. wow what a pile of rust/crap/scale inside of there.

scraped / filed / rinsed out all the crap i could. then reassembled the whole lawn mower and she finaly fired up and now runs good. my mom even said it sounds better than it has in a long time.

the fed's need to get there f__kin heads out of our gas and tires ( tire pressure sensors ) and get a fu__in life and get the more important stuff done first.

pic #1 = bowl. almost 1/16" thick of junk
pic #2 = some sensor or valve in bottom of bowl. full of junk
pic #3 = tiny bit of gas on top of all the junk from tank and carb clean out. prob still some junk in my electric fuel pump i used to remove gas from tank.

sorry for my rant but i hope this helps someone else.

I learned a long time ago no not run anything but Hi Test in my lawn equipment. Haven't had any problems since I started doing that. But before, yeah I had the same problems!

I have never had a problem and I don't even drain the tank for the winter.

not all fuel in NC has ethanol does it?

Most do but the ones that have 100% gasoline usually make it very clear they have it... I seen several large signs at the stations stating they have 100% gasoline...

Yeah when I got a new back pack blower they said run hi test only because the new fuel just terrorizes the internals

Mine had a similar problem. Brown stuff in the gas, worked it's way through to the carb very easily. I'd have to stop, pull the bowl, and clean the passages at least once per mow. I had a fuel filter for my Samurai sitting around, so I threw it on there for grins and giggles. I haven't had a problem since. It's a much better filter than what came on it.

Keep the fuel filters changed out on a regular basis and run high test in it and you will have fewer problems. I recommend this to every customer that gets equiptment from me and have yet to see anything come back fuel related.

I had the same problems. I was running 87 octane in my mower and using it out of a gas can. Now I just fill the mower up at the gas station with 93. No problems since I started doing that.

Also, check the local ATV dealerships for a product (the name escapes me) that essentially neutralizes the ethanol in the gas. Works well, and that's what I tell all of my customers at the shop.

well my atv dosnt need to even think of this problem.

she drinks VP C-12 mix race gas 108 leaded :driver:

by the new (2 yr old now) blue sta-bil everyone I know with a bass boat runs it religously....

what do u run that in ur atv for?
I use that same fuel in a 250cc grand prix bike and I used to toss it into the 2-stroke lawnboy mower I had ...ran really rich from the massive amounts of HC and octane in the fuel. Sure burns sweet in the GP bike tho :wheel:

I agree about the 92 octane premium in small engines , makes a big difference.

duncan racing tunned my quadzilla and i have lots of there parts on it.

all i can say is best money i have ever put in the quad. that fuel makes it night and day diffrence.

oh ya and smells good goin in and out the pipe. :huggy:
