ok guys, my automatic locking hubs finally crapped out on me yesterday and stranded me on the beach. going to install a set of manual locks. need opinions on which is the best, which ones suck and so forth. i'm on a nissan hardbody stock drive train on 33 inch bfg mt's.

If the Nissan Asin hubs are any thing like the Toyota ones they are way better than the warns. I ran 38.5s on my stock toy hubs for a while and never broke one. I say Asin all the way!

The Warn premiums are OK but ONLY if you throw the studs out in the trash and get good graded metric socket caps screws (allen head). The studs suck, the nuts always come loose, and in the end you are stuck drilling them out when they snap off. I've seen it a few times. The milemarkers are garbage, I've seen more than a few of them grenade the housings.
The BEST locking hub for a Hardbody w/28-spline outers (90+ V6, 94+ I-4) are the OEM-style AVM-manufactured hubs that Nissan used during the late hardbody years. They are nearly indestructible and really cheap in the junkyards, usually <$50/set. Next runner-up are the OEM manual hubs supplied by Warn for the 98-00 I-4 Frontiers and on '02 Enthusiast-package Xterras. I run those. If you have an earlier truck that uses 27-spline outers go with the Warns and just junk the studs.

Picture shows AVMs on the left, the OEM Warns in the middle.

i found some avm hubs on tellico4x4 for a decent price. do you think they are as good as the oem late model ones?

Bolts work lose too. Just get arp studs and lock nuts. You can torque a stud more than a bolt. I've seen the warns for toyotas and they dont even have a place for the cone washer.:shaking:

i broke 3 superwinch hubs on my hp44 in a year... broke zero warn premiums...

i know it's no yota but i thought i'd pass on my experience.
