Next workday is coming up here in a bit. I do not know what all we are going to work on but here are a few that need help.

Finish Daniel, water crossings on Dutch John and Wolf Den need work. Chris / Terry will let us know more closer to the workday we get.

My idea is if we can get a loader rented and an operator use that on front side of Daniel and attempt to use the SFWDA loader for the water crossing fixes. I know we will also need to police call a few trails. We did a few last workday and I was very happy at how clean everything was. Wouldn't hurt to ride all the main roads as well to check for trash and fallen limbs or brush in the road, same goes for trails as well with limbs and brush.

We're planning on camping at the double parking lot, if anybody else wants to come out on Friday night.

Looks right now we will be trying to do this. The plan right now as we speak is to get the rented piece up Daniel and then i will take the FOU piece of equipment from Wolf Den to Dutch John trying to get the water crossings better. I also know Terry has about 100 Hay bails to go around that day also.

This is from talking to both Terry and Chris just lately. Still waiting on word from Terry about the engineer.

CTB voted this weekend at the ride to rent a piece of equipment. So we will def have that there. Looking forward to it this weekend. Goin to be a fun workday for volunteers IMO.

Here is the info from Terry.

Hi Everyone – I’ve been talking with Snappy & Darin to finalize the details for this weekend’s projects. We’ll meet at the usual time of 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp. This weekend Rodney Smith will be working with you. There are 4 general projects and Snappy has been talking to some of the different clubs to see what they’ve got lined up too.

1. Daniel Trail - CTB and others will be working with equipment to fix up the lower ledge and upper ledge on the trail.

2. Dutch John Trail - the Carolina Broncos and others will tighten up their corduroy crossings and rock armoring of the stream crossings.

3. Wolf Den Trail – ONSC and others will work on draining the mud hole at the beginning of the trail near the trailhead, build up a water bar to catch some of the water draining off the forest road at the gate, and working on fixing the first stream crossing some more.

4. Transporting hay bales out onto all of the trails concentrating on putting the hay bales next to the tail ditches and not staking them into the tail ditches. The contract has not started to do the trail maintenance yet so the goal of this weekend is to get the hay bales stationed along the trails next to (5 to 6 ft to the side of the actual tail ditch). The tail ditches to focus on are the ones that are within 30 ft of any of the streams out there (ephemeral, intermittent or perennial) to minimize the amount of sediment getting to the streams. In April we’ll stake them into place when the trail maintenance is completed. Rodney will stage piles of hay bales at each trailhead and he’ll have the gates open so that you can have different groups go in from the different ends of the trails.

5. Trash clean up at the dispersed camp sites and along the trails. I’d like a couple of folks to take the time to pick up as much trash and clean up as many of the dispersed campsites as possible. The trash bags can be put into the dumpsters at Group Camp on the way out. I know it’s a little out of the way but it would be great if we could clean up the woods and trails as much as possible before the trails open up.

Snappy says that BBQ lunch will be starting at 2:30-3pm at the Dutch John / Double Parking lot for everyone. Thanks a lot everyone. We appreciate your help. Bye - Terry

@snappy I have two cases of water and 36 canned sodas for lunch.

ONSC " should " have a bunch there. Not counting on that though.

We put out some hay bales, removed a few downed trees, and picked up trash on Dickey Bell. Snappy was on again with a great lunch, BBQ and the best BBQ beans I have ever had!!! Thanks to everyone who came out today.
