I thought this might be something the NC4x4 community might be interested in! A quick and easy way to camp on the trail without worrying about that rock in the middle of your back all night long!

The MassDrop system is pretty interesting, I suspect that the 4x4 community as a whole could use this to leverage group buys for say snatch straps, or such? I am in the "poll" on some nice gloves too (Mechanix) and lots of interesting camping, knives and other such stuff.

Have fun! (I am one of the committed on the tent, so just hoping to see it go through!)

I tried to take a look but it wants me to sign up so not happening. At least let people look around a site enough to decide if it's worth signing up. Rant off.
I will say the Hennessy Hammock is awesome though. I use their Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip. If you're tall you may want that model. Perfect for the motorcycle or Jeep and much more comfortable than the ground/cot/air mattress.

Yeah I think I used a throwaway email address at first.. I have seen some other group buy websites, but I like the fact you can propose something yourself and then get support behind it. A popular product like that Warn winch kit with gloves, tree saver, snatch block etc. and then posting it up to Pirate4x4 or such might be a big success.

I am looking at some of the tools and some boots too for using on the trail.

I got an old surplus hammock, a tarp, and some rope I use in much the same way. Been rained on a few times and stayed nice and dry.

They did hit the minimum number to get the price down to $125 each! Looking forward to trying this out on the trails this year!

Been using an ENO Hammock for years. As small as it is, I always pack it and the rain fly in my pack when doing an overnight hike with even a chance of rain. Sometimes it can be a pain to find a place to set it up without having a bunch of sag in it, but when you're done, you're dry. It beats the heck out of packing up a wet tent the next morning.

And Eagles Nest Outfitters is based in Asheville. Support your local NC businesses.

good deal - and wow what a cool site.

Not for you big guys...

also I assume the "packed weight" includes the rainfly? But that's not clear. 3.5 lbs is not too light.

Not for you big guys...

Us big guys use the Explorer Deluxe rated for 7 feet and 300 pounds.
Not sure on the weight thing. I've never weighed mine and upgraded to the bigger fly to give more area to hang out, cook, etc. on rainy days. All my camping with it is off the motorcycle so packing small and being comfortable is what I was looking for.
If I were looking for super lightweight for long distance hiking I'd hook up with one of the custom folks on hammock forum.
