So today I spent some time trying to diagnose my tractor steering.

MF'er 20c or MF 32a loader.

Hydrostatic no gear box. Pump is a Barnes unit. I don't have a gauge to test with. Still looking for a simple kit that doesn't cost.

Running.
Tractor does not steer strong. To the left will go to stop. To right wheel turns and never stops. Does not move tires or go to lock.

Raised tires off ground. Steers left and right to stop.

Not running.
Tires on ground. Steering extremely firm tries to push tires either way. I don't force it.
Tires raised I can turn tires to lock either way. Grabbing the tires I can cycle the steering lock to lock with effort. (Note steering wheel responds accordingly).

Before testing raised and lowered and on vs. off I was suspecting a blown cylinder. ( It has two).
Another thought was how it would turn one direction decent and the other not at all with the wheel just rotating on and on. Thinking orbital (hand pump in manual. Lol.)

Thoughts???

I'm actually considering it to be a pump and pressure issue due to tire on ground vs. off and the way it acts not running.

I bought a hydraulic pressure testing kit to do some troubleshooting on my mini ex. Let me see if I can find where I stored it at and you're welcome to use it.

I am certainly no expert but it sounds like the orbital to me.

Does it have a single ram ?
Something may be bypassing internally.
Two separate rams. Two hardliners from orbital. Split at tees. One pushes and the other pulls to go a direction.

You may have a ram that needs rebuild. The one that commands right steering.

One easy test you could do is to swap the fittings for left/right at the orbital.

If the problem swap sides, it's an orbital problem. If the problem remains the right side, it's a ram problem.
Remember the tires will act in inverse of the steering wheel input. Steerig wheel input should be the only thing you're looking at hwen I'm saying "left" or "right"
