Max ATF for an NP231?

The fluid I ordered for my NP231 finally arrived and I think I might have bought the wrong thing.

I was looking for Dextron III and ended up with Royal Purple Max ATF fluid.

Is this stuff ok to use in an NP231?

Honestly to my understanding thats the best to use in every moving part on a vehicle i think the 231 can use that as long as its not atf+4... dont quote me on that tho i run 242 which uses atf+4

my 2001 wrangler's 231 takes atf4.

It'll be fine, probably alot better than Dexron III anyway.

It's an np231...you could probably run motor oil, gear oil, power steering fluid, hydraulic fluid, or whatever blend of trans fluid you wanted and it would be fine.

Thanks everyone for the input. Shop is closed this weekend for the holiday, but hopefully Tuesday I can take my first crack at fixing the tcase.

haha true. At the fall 2010 DPG race, I shattered the aluminum rear half and ran no fluid for quite a while. Still running that same t-case with a new rear cover.
