I count to three with with my 4 year old twins, but my 7 year old only gets 2. I don't even count with him, I just say his name. Two times for the same thing and that's it.
Well although the principle is the same, I don't think corporal punishment is going to work for @GotWood unfortunately. I can hear the voice over the intercom now. "Jenkins, I'd like to see you in my office. Pick a switch on your way here." Probably not going to fly.
the way i see it...some people have the best intentions and mean the best but just doesn't come out when it comes to business/professional work. I have had many in my past Management jobs where i ran 6-9 man crews and dealt with the same thing. To be completely honest, i lost my job at ASU after 2 years of management for same situation as yours...being too nice to too many employees and trying to cover their slack/messups but in the end, despite my hard work and ethics, several employees cost me my job and that was totally my fault and lesson learned. I learned that i wouldn't be in another management job anymore ever just because I am too nice and will overwork myself trying to pick up others' slack rather than being firm and do what i gotta do as a manager which of course for long while now I've been my own boss and plan on keeping it that way for....ever lol but i tried and had some good success and had some not so good! @GotWood , you made right decision as others have stated to keep you and your business relations out of jeopardy!!
Well, picked up the latest contestant today (yea I know what day it is) and worked him for 8. He's young (19) and green (last real job McDonald's) and has a kid on the way so maybe I can train this one. Maybe...
I tell kids all the time. There's not an Industry in America that's not looking for honest, hard working employees. Hopefully you'll find one. Sooner than later.
