Mayfield's Meth Lab

Wow!

Wow so was the house a meth lab? The article doesn't say?

No...it was not, he was just arrested for possession of Meth and got kicked out of NASCAR for failing a drug test because of it then refused to go into the Road to Recovery program. It was just a creative name we came up with for our fantasy NASCAR group and seemed fitting for this article.

Because no one can figure out what to do with a $1.3MM mansion??? Shoot, I'll take it and they won't have to waste their resources. But I suppose it might just be cheaper for the new owners to start from scratch than try to turn the existing house in to something they want.

All of that lumber could have been donated to Habitat for humanity and saved the taxpayer some cash...

It's not worth it. The labor to reclaim it is more than its worth.

More than likely, the house was left unoccupied/unconditioned for an extended period of time. In this climate, it doesn't take long for a house to get completely consumed by mold & mildew.

That will be a good house to burn for training. Unfortunately, it's so ginormous that the crews would tire out LONG before they run out of house to burn. What a shame.

Yeah, I guess I didnt think about the labor involved.

yes and no.
Its so stripped down, now its just wood. No glass, no siding, no pipes... seems to me this actually decreases a lot of the "realism" of the things that might affect how a building burns.

But it will probably release a lot less chemicals since it is not a complete house with glass, siding, carpet, etc

i don't live but a few miles from it and know it has been in the state it is in for 4 or 5 years so rot has bound to have set in by know. you should see the barn that goes with it. hell it would make a nice house.they had a auction a few years ago to get rid of all his racing parts, that was interesting.

It would make for very crappy live burn training, but there is tons of other training that could be done. It would make an excellent RIT (rapid intervention team) and self survival training house, and it is always good to let new guys see just how a house is constructed.

I didn't realize it had been stripped down. Guess I should have actually read into it. Haha. :shaking:
