So for some time I've been trying to track down the source of what I think/thought to be a vacuum leak whistle on my 2100.

Tonight I happen notice the sound of the whistle become muted when I put the air cleaner back on.

After placing it on and removing it a few times, I'm convinced that the whistle is coming from somewhere down inside the Venturis.

Anyone had experience with this? WTF could be whistling in there? I know air passes through it, but I've never heard this on all the mc2100's I've worked on. And that's a long list.

I've heard it on several carbs before. Had a customer at work with an 80s dodge. The two barrel could call dogs I swear. The holley 750 on my Fairlane right now does it off and on. I can change pitch by slightly moving the secondary linkage.

Sometimes you can get rid of it by adjusting the idle screw to change the throttle opening. Intake noise can be louder and more annoying than exhaust noise. That's why you see those weird extra chambers and passages on the intake tract on new cars. They are Helmholtz resonators.
