What do you all that are mechanics use as a labor guide for pricing on jobs? any free ones out there? if not how much do the guides run? thinking of starting a shop out here...

Is it going to be just a general repair shop or something a little more specfic. To be honest I have no idea about pricing guides. I'd just make your own that is going to make you money and something not to pricing. Starting off will most likely be slow. As hourly pricing I know the lowest I know of is 62 an hour and as for dealers its roughly 90 and up.

=X

Just general repairs..

What I've been doing so far was just look at it, see whats involved and go by how much work it looks to be... It's been slow so far, just on the side, but just wondering since instead of "I'd have to look at it", its "Hold on a minute...Yeah that'd be $xx" some company produces a labor guide, but can't recall who.. but it was big money. If y'all are charging 52.50 - 62, then I've been way under you all.

Thats the way I would do, it's hard to set a certain amount of time for some things because depending on what the vehicle is depends on the amount of time. The side jobs I do for people I charge 20-25 an hr. Just remeber to work in other expensies, not always free to work on stuff.

yep, thats about what I do now.. heater cores in explorers are easy but time consuming. If its a 8hr project I usually say like 150-200.. So I reckon thats right about at 20-25.

I had a fuel line on a ZR2 take me and my buddy at his dads shop over 12 hrs. Mainly because it was a northern truck and was in the worst possible spot.

Or All data.
