I am on vacation so going to head to Morganton area to runs some forest service roads and scout for new campsites. Yes, I know of all the areas off the right side of 181. I am gonna hit all the roads to the left. Any good spots on those roads to have a cold one and fire for the night?

West side of Linville Gorge on old 105. East side too, but on the west side, you are right at the edge of the gorge.

There’s a fs road near mile marker 17 on the left headed north. Easy to miss, it’s tucked in a hillside. It’s a dead end but there are some campsites back in there. There is one waterfall I can think of and the MST also travels through there. Forgive me for not remembering the rd number.

Check out FS496 right across from the entrance to the greentown trail head. Go down that way about 2 miles and there are several camping spots. MST connects down there to a few awesome waterfalls and if you are willing to hike, an awesome little meadow by the creek. Probably cross the creek 6-8 times to get to it though.

Found many sites , stopping point for the night.

What app is that?

Those wheels are snazzy. The guy who painted them that color has really good taste :flipoff2:

Today's run was 34 miles off road. Good time a few fun little climbs for stockish rigs. I would not take anything other than a DD there.
