My neighbor, lawrence, who is close to 80, and can no longer drive a five speed and only has a 5-speed vehicle( his car is in the shop), called me a couple of days ago and told me he had a doctor's appointment at the butt crack of earlier this morning. So I got up and took him to the doctor's office. It turns out he has a doctor's appointment at the butt crack of early tomorrow morning. I am not a morning person. As a matter of fact, I don't usually go to bed till 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning. What makes this all really infuriating it's that Lawrence cannot read at all. After thinking about it he told me that he read the mail that was sent to him and he had an appointment for this morning. I should have gone over and read the mail for myself. The only good thing about this is he was not driving his truck in the pouring rain this morning.

Now I'm trying to go to sleep so I can get up before the sun does tomorrow. Maybe if I hold my breath for about 30 minutes...

If it makes you feel any better….my uncle can read but definitely can’t keep track of his doctors appointments. I feel like elderly people are just cash cows for the hospital systems. Just a bunch of bull shit tests that don’t really tell you anything other than you’re getting old and you’re probably gonna die one day.

Well since Lawrence nearly died around Christmas time, and was in the hospital for 6 months, and had to relearn how to walk because he had not stood up in so long I don't mind taking him places. Plus if I had to stay in the house with his wife I'd want to go somewhere even if they stabbed me with needles.

Yup. My grandparents are in their 90s and it seems like they have an appointment at some Dr every other week.

My mother is 86 and it seems like she goes to the Dr a couple of times a week. It is nuts.
Yeah, and it never seems like they do anything but charge them for a social visit. Rarely any changes in meds or anything else.
