Anyone know how to resolve this issue? I have 35" tires on my Jeep and the speedometer was bouncing all over. So i bought a 29 tooth speedo gear to correct this issue but not my speedometer doesnt work at all and the truck is not counting miles. Thats about the only time i noticed this happening. So i think it has to do with that. Now that is the correct gear so what do you think the problem could be. Anyone have any idea? I have 3.73 gears. I also just put in a used 5 spd tranny but that shouldnt have anything to do with it. Thanks yall!

Double check to see if the speedo gear is in correctly, you may have it backwards.

most likely the problem...

the side with the range of numbers printed that contain the 29 has to be facing the correct direction...

I believe it can actually go in all four ways (90-degrees rotation each time)...but only one is correct for your gear...

No it is just the gear. i actually had the shop throw the gear in when i was having the axle worked on. I will open up the tcase and see what they did. They did mention it was spinning freely?

That means they are retarded and don't know how to put the speedo gear in.

The # of teeth on the gear needs to be facing down toward the ground. It is written on the outside of the gear housing.

if our descriptions haven't helped you line it up...this pic should help:
