Been pondering the idea of investing in a mini skid steer (the ones you stand on the back of). It would really help me out with my stump grinding cleanup. Anybody have any experience with them, or own one? Just don't wanna jump into buying one and then a month later be kicking myself in the ass for it.

They are pretty handy and surprisingly have good lift capacity.

We call them dingos. Most are narrow enough to fit through fence gates for convenient landscape work

I ran a Toro Dingo and the smaller Bobcat in years past for trail building where we didn't want to disturb more than we needed to. They are pretty handy. At a usual 500-800lb carrying capacity for the smaller units that impact turf a lot less (lighter), it will handle most light yard cleanup just fine. I'm assuming in your case hauling off chips and filling in holes left by the stump. Just know the machines limits and you're good. Digging power, meh, not amazing. However for just moving materials it fits the bill perfectly.

Thanks guys. The toro dingos I've found are fairly cheap. The bobcats and vermeers not so much lol. But they are bigger machines with tracks. I'm thinking a wheeled one would probably suit me better. Then of course I would have to get a bigger trailer to haul both my grinder and loader. I think a 16' would work. Probably be tight but I think it could work.

You probably know they make a powered dump buggy, like the concrete guys use. That's wheeled & dumps, but You'd have to self load it. All the other machines mentioned here are track, as far as I know.

Come check out a sk1550 if your ever in my area. LKN area. For those of you that say they wont dig....using wrong machine. Ditch witch truly is the way to go. The newer generation machines are phenomenal. Stay away from tire machines, they wont dig at all and will beat the shit out of you. I have ran many different types and put in a lot of hours on minis over the years.

@Danger_Ranger shoot me a pm. Your more than welcome to come demo my machine, and any attachment I have that you want to mess with. Or I can hook you up with my sales guy for ditch witch and you can demo one of their smaller units, 850 or 1050
