Hey I know on the old board somone had gone out to Moab for some guided four wheeling in some rented jeeps. Just wanted to know if anyone else has done this and where I can get information on it. I am planing on going this summer with my dad if we can make plans in time. Thanks.

We drove the Bronco out two years in a row to 'wheel. There are tons of jeep tours and good campgrounds They have hotels too but we have only camped... Google or go to utah.com and you should be able to find something.

Google, probably. Farabee's is right on Main St at the north side of town. They rent Jeeps, maybe do tour groups too, I dunno. There are several other places tho, including Slickrock Jeep Rentals.

There are a couple of places that do those pile-people-in-a-Hummer trips. Probably cheaper than renting your own Jeep, but probably less "fun" if you're looking to drive.

Yeah I was looking to drive my own jeep. I have seen the hummer trips and those all look boring to me. I wanna drive! :driver: i think the ferabees is the one that was mentioned before. thanks and any more info would be much appriciated.

I've had my 80 series out there twice... and I've been five times... I was the group/team/leadership building guide out there for our contract company.

Our company has used Farabee's and Slickrock...

IMHO Slickrock is " classier ", but more expensive, and Farabee's is just as good, but not as flashy...

There's a new Hummer rental place in Moab too, w/ a flashy storefront...

This is fun to do with a rental jeep. :D

I'm looking to go around mid-late june.

You know that Moab is in the DESERT and that it gets HOT there in the summer, right? :flipoff2:

Seriously tho.... we usually go the first week of October, and it's still hot during the day. You'll want to carry PLENTY of water.

We went in June and it wasn't that bad. It was hot but they don't have the humidity that we have here. I think it did hit 100 deg a few days though. It felt like 90 deg here with the humidity. But yeah, bring lots of water.

and what happens if i flop or break the rental jeep? if can get insurance in it i prolly would drive it to hell and back.

Ha ha ha.... I've seen PLENTY of rental Jeeps on that " rock "...

And it IS hot in Moab in July... BLAZING hot. I recommend an ARB fridge, and not ice and a cooler..... :D

Yeah I know but this is my summer and a graduation present from the rents, so I'm not going to complain. But thanks for the heads up.

Three words, Red Neck Air. See post in truck gallery. :driver:

Got the dates set yesterday, June 15-20 i'll be in moab. Flying out there for 420 bucks round trip per person, non stop to Salt lake city. Got reservations with Farabees and plan on doing a couple days of wheelin out there. I'll take plenty of pictures and let you guys know how it goes.

cole you bastad, where have you been? you dissapeared when we got out of school. have a good time in moab and come help me put my Th350/Np205 back in :flipoff2:

LOL.... no.

When it's 117F, it's 117F. Also, you might want to notice that there aren't many TREES in Moab, so there's no escaping the heat.

Take plenty of water.

117* isn't the norm, even during the summer.

No, but the June average high is 93 and all the trails are pretty much middle-of-nowhere beating-down-sun. It isn't just hot, your body doesn't cool the same way because the sweat evaporates too fast. If you break down or have to stop, you're only shade is under the vehicle.

We've been in early October the past two years and it is still in the 80s (50s at night). Even that late in the year you still have to be VERY careful about dehydration. We're not talking a couple of bottles of Dasani, we're talking about over a gallon per person. You're really better off avoiding caffeine and alcohol completely, but definitely for the first day or two. I got sick the first day the first year we went and I *thought* I was drinking plenty.

I'm sure you'll have fun, but it will definitely be more fun if you don't feel like sh*t. ;)

Have fun man. You are gonna love it. Take lots of pics.
