Model 20 upgrade

well

There's a couple write ups on the net about it. Search.

I've thought about it, but it doesn't seem worth the effort.

from what i've seen, you need a sliding side gear from a bronco dana 20 and an input gear from a dana 18 to do the mod. if you get the parts cheap, then the mod is worth it. it also involves a lot of grinding to the case. there is a good write-up online that i was going to follow when i contemplated the mod. http://www.jeeptech.com/convxfer/2.46-20/

if you think about it, that's a 25% reduction in gearing for low bucks. it'sabout like re-gearing from 3.07 to 3.73 for the cost of those couple parts.

Finding a early model 20 out of a Bronco will be tough. I have a D18 but it has a 1 1/8 intermediate shaft, I think I need a 1 1/4 shaft. maybe someone on the forum has a EB Dana 20.

You might try Jeff's Bronco Graveyard in Michigan. I think this is the part you need:

The info contradicts the instruction page in regards to if it's from a t-shift or a J-shift, but the part number seems to be correct. At $150, I'd want to make DAMN sure it's the right one!!!!!
