I installed a set of TJ seatbelts in my CJ, they work great, and i feelbetter with them than my lap belts, but the main issue is the torsion bar or spring, or what ever it is inside the seatbelt ot make it lock up when at an angle other than 0 degrees. It gets a bit frustrating when you are on an obstacle and you are compeltely held into the seat when you need to twist to see where you are going. I know it is not something to mess with, but i am curious is there a way to ease this issue. I know i am not the only one with the problem i had a couple of friends with TJs that have this issue also.

Thanks

No, it's not something to mess with.

In many cases it is a pendulum weight that swings and locks the belt roller.

locking it out makes the belt pointless, and WAY dangerous.

If you've ever had the belt webbing edge rub against you neck or side while strapping in, imagine how that would feel and the damage it would do with force behind it.

It can actually slice if given the chance.

I use a set of racing lap or shoulder belts on the trail and save the 3 points for the street.
