Anyone elses county spraying for mosquitoes?
The wife and I were watching TV maybe an hour ago and I heard a small plane come over pretty low. I had read that emergency management had authorized spraying and weather permitting get they would begin tonight and I assumed that's what it was. I stepped out to get something from my truck and didnt get bit in the 2 minutes I was outside. This afternoon everytime I walked out I got swarmed. The carport floor is littered with dead mosquitoes. I'm pretty impressed/weirded out. We must have had a direct hit.
They're spraying Naled at a rate of 1-2 tsp per acre. It's hard to believe that that small of an amount would be effective but it sure seems to have been.
As a libertarian leaning conservative, I'm a little wary about what gives the .gov the right/authority to spray a chemical compound over private homes and businesses. If we were dealing with a malaria or zika outbreak then yeah, gotta do what you gotta do, but these are "new" mosquitoes that aren't really transmitting diseases. They're a nuisance more than anything. I'm not against the use of pesticides, it's just that the .gov is spraying over the entire county. :tinfoilhat: what else could they be spraying under the ruse of mosquitoe control? :tinfoilhatoff:
