Most common size wheel

Whatever comes stock on a JK, and probably a 15x8 beadlock.

Back "in the old days" it was all 15x8. Now it seems 16-18 are a lot more common. Aren't JKs 18s?

Aren't JKs 18s?

Sahara JKs are 18's, Rubi's and X's, and most of the "Special Editions" are 17", Base Models with steel wheels are 16"

Seems like 17s are the norm now

Going from a 15 to a 17 in. wheel, your tires will go up approx. $100 per tire. And there is less rubber on a r17 tire.?. Not to mention the price difference in the wheels themselves.
Just my two cents.

That's scare tactic logic that was hardly representative of the market 20 years ago, much less now. 17s are the new 14, common as all get-out and standard on most trucks, if not passenger cars, too. 15s, especially in a truck tire, are getting damn near impossible to find. I just bought some 265-70r17s for my truck. Basically the same as a 32x11.50. Less than $140 a tire. Find me some 32s for $40 a tire and I'll buy 4 sets!

17x8/9" Walker Evans or Racelines.

Bingo. I've been looking around for 2 sets of decent used offroad tires for 2 trucks - I have sets of 15 and 16" rims. Surprisingly hard to find, they all seem to be 17 and 18". Used to be that all teh tires on here were 15s, not any more.
Most trucks now have calipers that are too big to fit in a 15" wheel.

I'm old school and prefer a 15" wheel like on my JK with 15x8s but my k5 with 1 tons I said screw grinding calipers and put some 17s on it.

Yup. I have to run a 17" because of that issue. 17s seem to be the norm, 16s had their day and I think that has passed now.

Yep, 16's are on their way out. 17" definitely seems to be the new normal.

Using the vehicles in my driveway as my random sampling, I have a 1972 Beetle with 15's, a 1995 S10 with 15's, a 1999 Dodge Caravan with 15's and a 2013 Sienna with 17's.

So, 3/4 of the vehicles are still running 15's, maintaining their place as the most popular wheel size.

Another for the 17" wheel.

Just bought five JK moabs for $100. From a DD standpoint 17" wheels give a tire a little bit more stability when running large diameter tire.

My sample set 15, 16, 2x 17, 18

Who is compiling?

My sample set: 20, 17, 15, 15, 16, 17, 15, 15, 18, 15, 16, 16, 15, 15, 15, 16, 15, 16, 15, 16, 15, 15, 15, 16

Damn I have too much inventory.........

15, 15, 16, 17

I don't think the group on this forum is a good representation of the average American though when it comes to automobiles, LOL.
