I actually did this once right after we had our twins. We were out somewhere and someone approached us with the "aww are they twins?" and after about the millionth time that happened plus lack of sleep due to two infants at the same time I said "we actually had triplets but we leave the ugly one in the attic". She was NOT ammused.
