Need a place to mount a set of 40's for me. Just moved back and not sure who has the ability to handle this stuff anymore. Preferably Pineville, Ballantyne or Steele Creek area based on where I live/work. Don't have a ton of time to go driving all over town.

I'll be out of town from Wednesday-Sunday so I could just leave them with someone while I am gone.

I bought two tire spoons from harbour freight, takes about 60 seconds per tire.

Edit; just come get mine, Austin needs them as well.

I fought the same battle trying to get somebody in Raleigh to mount mine before purchasing spoons and doing it myself. There is a definite technique and two or more on a tire is very handy. And it pays to have someone experienced there. But they go quick after the learning curve. I would not be scared to do 40's by myself now after learning. I bought the spoons and paid my helpers well and it still came out much cheaper than the only 2 quotes I was able to get.

4wheelparts off south blvd talk to will or Aaron

Yea, good luck with that unless you bought them there.:shaking:
That's why I said talk to will or Aaron they are both members on the board

I can get @GONOVRIT's spoons from the greater Dallas metro area to Steele Creek.

I'm sure Aaron and Will would surely appreciate you throwing them under the bus for it is 4WheelParts company policy to only mount tires bought from the store. Did you ask Will or Aaron before mentioning their names??? Have you any idea how many people frequent this website jeepyj? I guess Will and Aaron are forced to mount them for everyone now that walks in and says they are a NC4x4 member and risk their jobs.

All I said to do is go and talk to them I did not imply that they could do it or that they would do it I am not throwing anyone under the bus nor did I say that would be forced to mount anybody's tires that is an NC member No need to get your panties in a wad I was just making a suggestion

Guess my ass is still a tad sore when I was running around. Totally understand your gesture.

My 4wp trip was a double waste considering they don't open til 9. Then I was forced to go downtown Raleigh that day on a job, park and go inside for a couple hours with $2,000+ worth of tires and wheels in the bed.

Although busy as absolute crazy, at least ECGS still gave me a quote before I decided on the spoons like everybody on here told me to do.

The tire spoons are only about $6 each at HF it looks like. I just don't have a compressor to air them up/set the bead once I get them on the wheel.

Thanks for everyones opinion and suggestion so far. That was quick. Still weighing options...

Take them to Sheetz and air them up. They have free air.

I do advise to watch some youtube on this. I gave it an all day effort the day before a buddy came over and showed me how. He made me swear not to video though for it appeared he liked the tires very well during his process.

 Yeah that was what I was afraid of.

Sheetz isn't a bad idea. I just wasn't sure if the initial pressure from those units would be enough to seat the bead. Guess I can take a ratchet strap with me and wrap the tire to help it out.

Hell I feel like a noob posting about mounting freakin tires. I miss having good ol boys like I did in Boone that would knock out a set of tires for me for beer or a quick $20.

Try a place that works on truck tires, 40s are run of the mill for them. Or maybe Tarheel can do it? Discount tire? With all the JKs on 37+ these days, there's got to be a few places

About 10 minutes from Steel creek.

The owner of one of the tire/quick lube places in Lake Wylie is a member here.
Cant remember whether it is the goodyear or the havoline place though.
He has a flat bed tire machine and may hook ya up.

Also while throwing all the 4WP info around the manager there is a member here as well...

Now if you awant other suggestions, Tarheel can do it. If Andy doesnt hook you up I'd bring Vasoline though.
There is a place in Lancaster county about 10 minutes from Ballantyne on ...Doby Bridge Rd I believe (turn R besides the lowes and its down on the right) he has older style tire machine and can do it as well.

Now you just have to take them all off and put them on the right way around.

Good first try, though.

Good job! I see you discovered the need for slickness. We used dishwashing liquid. What kind of slime did you use?

Dawn mixed in heavy concentration in a bucket of water. Wiped each bead down with a washcloth inside and outside of the bead.

Soap, mount inner bead/jump/pry, flip tire and wheel over, soap outer bead, stand on tire and just work my way around with one spoon. I did all 4 inner beads then went back and tackled the outers. Once I had the first one done, the other 3 were done 15 minutes later. Probably 2 hours of work total between watching youtube, cursing the first tire and getting texts from @GONOVRIT about how bald these tires are.

Stretch I have a machine at my house if you ever need one again not sure about a 40 but I have done several sets of 38 tsls
