I just bought a 6000 lb Superwinch that I plan to install in my enclosed trailer. The trailer has a rectangular beam that runs through the center of the trailer and has a composite floor.

What's the best way to attach the winch? Bolt the mounting plate to the center beam? Or make a hat section that straps over the beam and sandwich the beam and floor in between?

I bought a mounting base for a winch today. This looks like it will work great for the inside. Now for the bottom.

Here's photos of the winch and base:

Any suggestions?

you will want to make sure that it is secure in all different directions... dunno what the beam or your trailer look like, but when winching, it will want to pull the winch towards the back of the trailer, as well as up off the floor. Both these forces will create a bending motion (moment) on the floor and beam, so make sure its fixed down well
