so I have acquired a 12x16 out building for free. It’s in Greensboro and I’m trying to figure out how to get it to Walnut Cove. To my understanding it’ll need permits to move. Anybody have experience moving 12’ wise building?

How far are you moving it? I'm not familiar with Greensboro other than what's right on 40. Folks around here just move them if it's only a few back road miles. I bought a tank from Wilmington that was 14ft dia and I had to hire a transport company to move it. It had to be escorted by a certified escort.

It’s right off 40, would have to cross 40 at some point to get to back roads

I moved one from King to Elkin. To get permits you need license plate numbers of tow vehicle and trailer. You also need to have the exact route turn by turn with road names. No wide loads after dark or I think on Sundays and holidays

I would contact the dutch barn people in G-boro and get a quote from them to move it.

@RenegadeT paid a some shed sales company to move his from his old house to his new house.

If it’s no wider than 12’, you typically don’t need an escort, just “oversize load” banners front and rear. May need an amber light as well, can’t remember.

Make sure overall height is less than 13’-6” after its loaded on the trailer.

If you are 12’-1” or wider, you will need an escort. Escorts are required to be certified which means hiring someone to do this work.

Permits are usually less than $50 but escorts can increase the cost dramatically.

I had my 10x16 shed moved from N.GSO/Summerfield to Stokesdale near the Dollar General by Brown Buildings in Reidsville. I did call Dutch Barns, but they were a little more pricey, and conservative with permits, etc. I'm sure I called House of Stars too, can't remember their reply.
I built my shed a little tall, so I think the height was a concern for them. If memory serves correctly, I paid about $500, which ended up including storing it at their lot for a few weeks in the late winter/early spring til the ground at my new house dried up. I didn't do anything with permits, Brown told me they'd "handle" it.

Adam had 2 moved to his house from Charlotte area. Think it was around 300 a building.
