Seems like some irrational fear going on here, so I’ll chime in with my thoughts since I’ve moved a lot more top heavy and unstable stuff than the average person…
Any chance you get, use slings and lift the load from above. If done right, it may sway around, but can’t fall over or be dropped. Gravity is your friend.
Sometimes you need to strap stuff down to your forks. I’m just as lazy as the next guy, and I’ve done a lot of sketchy stuff, but every once in a while you have to just stop and secure things. It may take longer now, but beats the heck out of dumping your load on the ground.
Just because you have something suspended or strapped down doesn’t mean jack if it has moveable parts or what you have it held by compresses/crushes/stretches/breaks. It’s super important to understand how it is secured.
Here’s some pics of a “fun” one that was top heavy, had a narrow base, everything pivoted, and it had to go from laying to standing.
I say all this to say don’t be afraid of moving a toolbox, but do everything you can to keep it secure and upright. Another great option is to just pull the drawers out. Then it goes from over 1000lbs to less than 200lbs in most cases, and most modern drawers have a quick release that only takes seconds to remove and install.
