The family and I having been playing with the idea of moving to NC. We are currently in Phoenix, AZ. I have a few questions that perhaps someone would answer...

1) How is the job market (I am a loan processor for 2nd mortgages)
2) How is the Charlotte/Camden area?
3) Anything imperative I should know about NC or the above cities?

Best indication of the job market is to go to the local newspaper's Sunday classifieds. The paper is the Charlotte Observer, and the classifieds are available online. Can't tell ya much about Camden, SC, so try Googling the Chamber of Commerce for info.

When checking the classifieds, look at what the predominant categories of job listings are and that'll tell ya where the job market is in the area. Charlotte is basically the banking and finance center of NC and northern SC, Bank of America's southern cooperate center is there as well as several others, so as a guess, I'd say you're looking in the right place for your career path. The area is referred to as Metrolina because the greater Charlotte area includes a bunch of northern SC as well as the expected big chunk of NC, and the International Trade Zone is just south of Charlotte. That should make the area attractive to ya. Plus, western NC/eastern TN/Northern GA is loaded with places to wheel, and Charlotte has a couple of the bestest 4x4 shops that can be found anywhere (look for the board name "zubs" here for one.)

NC is as varied in topography as any place can be. The coastal plain covers the largest area followed by the Piedmont (yes, like Italy), and the mountains. We do have the highest mountains east of the Rockies, BTW, and the beaches are unique, too. The barrier islands called the Outer Banks has over 20 miles of sand you can ride in stretches spread out along the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and along beaches outside of it.

The Raleigh area is the capital and is part of the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill complex, but be prepared for crowding and growth and no places to wheel.

The law is pretty easy on 4x4s compared to some places, and if it's old enough, it doesn't have to be inspected.

Somebody else take over here.

We are full and on the exchange program. You must find a family of a equal number of people moving out of the state in order to move in.

The Charlotte newpaper's website is www.Charlotte.com. DO NOT move into Mecklenburg county, taxes to high schools suck. downtown charlotte is only 12 miles or so from lower taxes in SC.

if you want to move to charlotte look into cabarrus county. i lived in mecklenburg all my life until i moved to charleston. i love charlotte. i have a good friend who moved from phoenix to charlotte and he has never had one regret. as far as jobs, considering charlotte is a banking town i would feel confident that you will find work.

Awesome! Thank you for the information. I will definately take a look at the website and see what I can find as far as jobs!

Went to tech school in Phoenix, twice. Different kind of hot here in the summertime too. You still don't want to go outside much though. The beaches are cool too.

Then you should be able to stand it here up to around 80-85 or so... ;)

traffic sux in chlt
I suggest you NEVER drive in Pittsburgh! When it stops there, you turn off your vehicle and sit for 2 hours! Charlotte traffic is fun. Bumper to bumper across 4 lanes, all at 80 mph! WEEEEEEEE! A real treat in a 4 banger TJ.
