Im looking for a new DD and the MPG is something I am considering. I want a 2000+ durango with the 4.7 V-8 but if I am going to get the same MPG out of a 01+ Tahoe I think thats a better choice. Listed MPG for the Tahoe is 14-17 and the Durango 13-18. that gives the edge to the durango but I have seen a few places online that the tahoe can average around 16-17MPG while the Durango only averages around 15MPG. What numbers are right and what would you sugest? I have had a 98 durango before with the 5.2 and it only got around 12MPG.

my 01 yukon (which is for sale) gets 13-14 around town and 18-18.5 on the highway. i dont reem on it though

My 01 Yukon (also for sale :flipoff2: ) gets 15.5-16 around town and 19+ highway (On trip to Miami last year actually got 21.7...but that was flat and cruise set at 60-65 for almost entire tank...)

Not sure what the diff would be between these 2 but i am guessing rear gears?

Most Yukon/Tahoes were equipt with 3.73 gears, with a smattering of 3.42 and 3.55s out there (most 2wheel drive)

Most will have the 5.3L "Z" engine (flex fuel capable) but there are some 4.8L equipt as well (2wd)

If you are watching the DIC for your mileage figures, you need to confirm them with actual figures, The DIC is notoriously inaccurate. ( DIC = Driver Information Center)

Now I am really confused...
Mine is actual hand calculated
5.3
4x4
3.73
Only mod is a drop in style K&N by P.O. not the tube snout/snorkle set up just the filter in the stock box...

BTW mine has every option known to man and no DIC with mpg info, the only DIC I have is the little message box that says door open, rear hatch open, low washer fluid low fuel etc, was the MPG DIC an option in 01?

i dont have the DIC either and mine is also and slt, meaning every option...
you must keep your foot out of it better than i do...:flipoff2:
